Nervana Online(TM) Puts Semantic Search at the Fingertips of the Life Science Knowledge Worker; A Limited-Time, 14-Day Free Trial Download Now Available
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2005

T Nervana, Inc. (www.nervana.com), a semantic search technology company, announced today the release of Nervana Online(TM), an innovative suite of federated and context-aware content services that support semantic search and discovery. This Internet-based, application service provider (ASP) distribution model is targeted toward the life sciences industries to help researchers, scientists, and business decision-makers get a greater number of, and more relevant, online search query results. A limited-time, 14-day free trial offer is available for download at www.nervana.com.

"With Nervana Online, users can now ask questions the way they think -- naturally -- and get powerful, contextual and time-sensitive results with unmatched precision and recall," says Nosa Omoigui, Chairman and CEO of Nervana, Inc. "Furthermore, Nervana Online empowers users to ask questions from multiple sources simultaneously, thereby significantly enhancing their productivity and the competitiveness of their organizations," he explains.

"Nervana's ASP search tool provides sophisticated search capabilities for specific Internet sites, with no hassle or difficult setup, says Anthony S. Murabito, Vice President, Information Technology, for Cubist Pharmaceuticals. "Together with the free trial, low entrance costs and content indexed, it met our immediate business needs," says Murabito.

Life sciences organizations save time and money as research and business decision-making becomes more efficient and productive. By using semantically intelligent search technology instead of basic keyword tools, researchers, scientists, and business managers can pursue the right opportunities at the right times. They can also capture the most relevant and timely information from across many different sources simultaneously.

The Nervana Online Suite
Three specialized knowledge areas are offered with the release of Nervana Online to provide semantically indexed content.

-- Nervana Online News: This service semantically processes, filters and indexes several hundred news articles per hour, offering users more than 1,500 sources of up-to-date life sciences news. In addition, the Nervana System(TM), the underlying patent-pending technology, processes more than 4,300 articles per hour (more than one article every second) from 10,000 general news sources.

-- Nervana Online MEDLINE: Through a licensing arrangement with PubMed (www.pubmed.com), Nervana Online MEDLINE semantically processes, filters and indexes life science-related news from MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic database. MEDLINE contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,800 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries.

-- Nervana Online Patents: This service semantically processes, filters and indexes patent news encompassing both general and domain-specific patents.

The Nervana System(TM)
The Nervana System is the patent-pending technology that powers Nervana Online. This technology extracts and summarizes semantically intelligent concepts, keywords, and metadata that describe a researcher's documents, comparing that summary with one or more industry ontologies. This information is used as a time-sensitive, contextual filter for users to search across a wide range of sources simultaneously. Nervana Online then delivers contextually relevant information to the desktop. As a result, users can explore their search results in a cohesive view, organized by types of knowledge, and can target what is most useful at any given time.
