Nervana’s CEO Named to PharmaVOICE 100 List
Nervana’s Founder Recognized as a Leading, Innovative Technologist in the Pharmaceutical and Life Science Industries
BELLEVUE, WA – June 7, 2006 - Nervana, a leading knowledge discovery company, today announced that Nosa Omoigui, the company’s founder and CEO, has been named to the PharmaVOICE 100 list in recognition of his development of innovative technology contributions to the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries. The PharmaVOICE 100 were nominated by PharmaVOICE readers who identified the individuals they believe are having the greatest influence and positive impact on corporate leadership, research and development, technology, creativity, marketing and business strategies.
"Through their actions and passion for the industry, the PharmaVOICE 100 serve as inspiring examples of how one person can make a difference to many," said Taren Grom, editor of PharmaVOICE. "We are honored to pay tribute to these unique individuals who have been recognized by the readers of the publication for their positive contributions to the industry. These 100 men and women are being recognized for their dedication within the various sectors of the life sciences and for the positive impact they are having on moving the industry forward. We are honored to showcase these individuals who are making a difference in our second annual PharmaVOICE 100 issue.”
After several years of working as a research program manager and technology strategist in Microsoft Research, Omoigui found that even the most tech-savvy companies struggle with information management; especially when it comes to in finding relevant information across vast, disparate data repositories, intranets and the Internet. He also understood that, while this is a problem that affects every organization, it is most apparent in the life sciences industry where there’s an immediate need for knowledge discovery in data that is often unstructured and fragmented. Omoigui decided to leave Microsoft to invent a semantic search solution that would increase researcher productivity, improve business processes and expedite time-to market for new products and services.
In 2001, Omoigui – who holds 8 granted patents - founded Nervana and developed “The Nervana Discovery Solution,” which leverages semantic awareness and analysis to understand natural language queries that deliver both timely and relevant results. The Nervana Discovery Solution provides researchers with context-relevant access to information across all types of portals, applications, repositories and file systems – even unstructured, untagged databases.
“It’s a great honor to be included on a list of such esteemed industry leaders,” Omoigui said. “Inclusion on the PharmaVOICE 100 validates our technology mission, a truly powerful discovery solution that enables Life Science companies to unlock the value in complex, hard to find, relevant and timely data.”
About the PharmaVOICE 100
PharmaVOICE asked its diverse readership to nominate the individuals who have inspired and motivated them. Readers were asked to select individuals who view industry trends as challenges not burdens, as opportunities not obstacles, who embody panache and conviction, and who plan for the future rather than respond to change. These innovative creators of outside-the-box and breakthrough strategies, products, and services are pioneering new paths and lifting their companies to greater heights.
The 2006 PharmaVOICE 100 were selected based on a number of criteria, particularly the nominator's description of why an individual inspired or motivated them or how an individual is affecting positive change, as well as the number of votes received by the deadline of April 15, 2006.
